Developed by Omega in the late 1960's and originally tested by divers of the French Comex company. Also used by Commander Cousteau for experimental purposes a fact exploited and used by Omega in their advertising slogan 'The choice of Jacques-Yves Cousteau the Seamaster 600'. Launched on the market in 1970 as first watch for professional divers only. The launch price was Swiss francs 795,- more than twice the price of a Rolex Submariner. Omega advertised the watch with the slogan When you take your life in your hands, you need a good watch on your wrist. No doubt, the Omega Ploprof was the best divers watch at the time.
Highly sought after and collectable watch, this Ploprof is supplied in a Omega travel case and the service slip from Omega. The watch does have some minor surface marks to the case and bezel however we have left this untouched in order to keep the character of the watch.
