The Rolex GMT was originally designed in partnership with Pan Am Airways and issued to crew on the long haul flights. GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time and the watch was unique at the time as it enabled flight crews to read different time zones at a glance.The current 116710 GMT Master II watches were introduced in 2007 incorporating a number of technical changes from its predecessor, the 16710. These included the Parachrom hairspring, for better timekeeping, a more robust bracelet and clasp. Most notable was the introduction of the scratch and fade resistant ceramic bezel. Supplied in unworn condition with the original Rolex boxes, both swing tags, instruction manual and warranty card. In unworn condition and from July 2017 it is supplied with all the protective stickers intact and is covered by the Rolex 5 year warranty until July 2022.
