PAM 00373 In Officine Panerai's past, there existed a rare, mysterious version of the Radiomir, of which only two examples dating back to the end of the 1930s are known, featuring a dial with a unique and original graphic style. The new Radiomir 3 Days Platino - 47mm by Officine Panerai draws on this unusual graphic, which has not been used since in the history of the Florentine brand. The new Radiomir brown dial, protected by a Plexiglas® crystal, features alternating bar markers - double at 12 o'clock, single at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock - and dot markers, in place of the typical large numerals at the cardinal points, which characterise Officine Panerai's classic dial. To ensure optimal readability, the dial has a sandwich structure, typical of historical models, comprising two superimposed plates, the upper one perforated at the hour markers to highlight the interposed luminescent material. The origin of this dial cannot easily be traced. According to some historians, the two surviving examples (differentiated by the presence or absence of the small seconds dial) were perhaps fitting samples that were not continued. The loss of the Panerai archive during the Florence flood of 1966 means no historical reconstruction can take place, but the watch, also due to the mystery surrounding it, has lost none of its allure in this latest edition. The Radiomir 47mm diameter case is made of platinum and is water-resistant to 10 BAR (~100 metres), a depth presumed to be the maximum possible for the original Radiomir. The case-back features a large sapphire crystal window to showcase the in-house movement, and the strap attachments, no longer welded to the case-middle as in the past, are removable wire loops (patented by Officine Panerai) that allow the strap to be changed easily. The case and watch reference details are engraved between the strap attachments. The Radiomir 3 Days Platino - 47 mm adopts the manual-wound P.3000 movement, designed and built entirely at the Officine Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel.
