July 16: Placed order for Hamilton Khaki King Scuba Black Dial Gatic tch, and my debit card had 439.37 placed on hold. At that time I received an email acknowledging order, and stating that my credit card would not be charged until the order was shipped well, it already had been…at least run for that amount.July 16: (later that same day) I received an email saying that the item was back ordered, and that it would be shipped in 1-2 weeks when it arrived into inventory, and again confirmed my “credit card” would not be charged until that time. July 23 (one week later) and still no word. I logged into my account to see what the status was, and their system showed no orders having been placed by me! I emailed theshop and explained this, and received a reply from “Leo” (no last name) saying the same thing as a week before, that they were waiting for it in inventory and it would be available in 1-2 weeks. He went on to say that my “payment information was just recently approved” and that “By paying for the purchase with your credit card, you have reserved the item at the sale price agreed upon” What!! At which point I was completely confused.I wrote back to “Leo” with the following: “Well, one week has come and gone as of today. I would hope, in that I was sold an out of stock item, that when you get it, you see it appropriate to expedite the shipping. The item was paid for with my debit card, so the moment the sale was complete that money was placed on reserve, and no longer available to me; thus I'm not sure what you mean in saying that "my payment information was just recently approved. As a first time buyer I'm a bit disappointed. Had I known the item was out of stock I might have made a different decision? Leo’s reply to my concerns: “Again we apologize for the inconvenience, and we will ship as soon as possible” That was it, not even one single concern was even acknowledged.I sent back an email asking that the issue be elevated to a manger and “Leo” replied that if I wanted a manager to call and ask for Roee at 718.532.2879. Yet, if I had wanted to conduct business over the phone I would have already called. I like paper trails, electronic or otherwise. Incidentally throughout all the emails, I was referred to as “Dear Customer” No first or last name. The money being held on my debit card for the last week returned as available and I immediately moved the money into another account. theshop might be the most honest people on earth---or they might not be, but if they are one wouldn’t know it by the customer service. I don’t want to do business with people that take my money, and then won’t even _acknowledge_ my concerns, that do not provide last names, and refer to me as “Dear Customer.” In looking at the BBB reports and see they have an A+ rating, so that’s important to them. I suppose when someone takes a matter up with the BBB they prioritize a quick resolution. I can’t help but wonder though about all the ones that don’t take it up with BBB though….those customers I’m sure are in the majority.Ten days after the sale I receive an email entitled “Deliver Confirmation.” Asking me to choose one of the following: ““Yes, I received my order. Please confirm that you've received your order by clicking on the link below. No, I haven't received my order yet.If you haven't received your order yet, wait 24-48 hours then contact theshop.com I canceled my order. If you canceled your order then you can disregard this email and there is nothingelse that you need to do at this time.Your response above will provide theshop.com with valuable feedback regarding your order, so that they can better assist you and other customers.”Well, that’s certainly kind of nuts. No tracking number, just questions. And doesn’t theshop know whether I’ve received the order?!I love watches, and enjoy buying new ones, as well as gift giving. bought locally or through Amazon (where theshop also sells) and appreciate the extremely fast service and Amazon guarantee. But I saw these guys and figured I would give them a try as they certainly have good prices. It was not a good experience and the relationship was aborted before ever leaving the ground. They 1. Didn’t tell me the item was out of stock. 2. Didn’t explain what was meant by having “my payment information approved” and to that end acted like they were doing a nice thing by selling it for the price I agreed to pay 3. Never could provide a definitive date when I would have the product, failed to provide their last names, and finally indicated they didn’t know if I had received, not received, or cancelled the order.ess with this company is done. I’m going back to Amazon. As for my original order of the Hamilton Khaki King Scuba, I think I’m going to look for different watch. I really wanted that one, but this experience has kind of ruined the enjoyment I would get from the specific watch.
